Day two of c25k

I finished week one, day two of the couch to 5k program yesterday evening. It consisted of 60 seconds of jogging alternated with 90 seconds of walking. It was tough, but I finished it! I don't know if I believe that I will be jogging 3 miles in 9 weeks, but I am going to try my best. I have been looking for 5k races in the area for the time when I will finish my c25k program (mid February). I am excited to sign up and have another goal to work toward. I am hoping to recruit my friend Robyn to run with me. She is training for a half marathon right now! This means that she can run for like 60 minutes straight while I am hyperventilating after 60 seconds!!
I am having some trouble adjusting to the treadmill. I am always scared I will fall off or fly off the back (like I have seen on tv)..so I usually tense up my legs when I get on. I got really excited when I finished my last jogging interval and swung my hand down, knocking my iPod on the treadmill. I immediately stopped walking to bend down and pick it up, which would have been fine if the dang treadmill wasn't still running! Luckily, I was able to hop off pretty quickly and avoid any serious injuries. Are there secrets to running on the treadmill that no one has told me yet? Tomorrow I will be completing my first week of workouts! Hopefully I wont fall off or fly off!

First Post Post

I am new to the blogging world, which I am sure is easily guessable since this is my first post! After reading a few blogs (that have inspired me to really commit to working on my weight loss goals), I decided to jump in and start my own blog as a way to be accountable!
This year has been a big one for my family. In March, we were blessed with baby O. She is 9 months old today! I can't believe how quickly those months have gone by. My original weight loss goal was to be at my ideal weight (140) by the time baby O was 6 months old. I was at 195 when she arrived via c-section in March. At my 1 month check up, I was down to 155. (Baby O was a BIG baby!) Now, eight months later I am up to 175. Somehow I managed to GAIN 20 pounds after the baby, while breastfeeding. I always heard that nursing would help 'melt' the weight off. I guess I didn't take into account how much fast food and sweet stuff that I can eat! I always talk about how much I want to lose weight (usually while chowing down on some Taco Bell or while making a new cake recipe), but I haven't actually stuck with it. My plan is to complete the Couch to 5k program (I started yesterday!), keep up with my calories with the myfitnesspal app, and maintain accountability by posting on this blog! I decided not to wait for 'after Christmas' or 'after New Year' or 'if the world doesn't end tomorrow (Mayan apocalypse anyone?)' because I am tired of making excuses! So, here is to getting fit and healthy!
